What is Wedding Bounty?

A wedding vendor marketplace for the Houston area that runs the other way round. Instead of you finding vendors and retyping the same message into a dozen contact forms, you post one bounty describing the wedding you are planning, and the vendors who want the job come to you. Post once, let vendors come to you, which is the whole idea in six words.

How does it work?

Accepted Answer

Three steps. You post a bounty: your date, where the wedding is, roughly what you have to spend, and which vendors you still need. It goes onto the public board and the live map, where every vendor on the platform can read it. Vendors pitch the weddings they want, so the first message comes to you rather than the other way round, and each pitch arrives scored out of 100 against what you asked for. You reply to the ones you like and ignore the rest.

Yes, while we launch. No card, no code, and no commission on anything you go on to book. Paid posting is not switched on, and no price written anywhere on this site is being charged until it is. If that changes, you will hear it from us before it does rather than at a checkout.

What kinds of vendors are on here?

24 categories, which is most of what a wedding takes: Photographer, Videographer, Florist, DJ, Band, Caterer, Wedding Planner, Day-of Coordinator, Officiant, Venue, Hair & Makeup, Cakes, Desserts & Small Bites, Stationery, Calligraphy, Signage, Rental Company, Lighting Designer, Photo Booth, Transportation, Bartender, Event Decor, Tent & Structure, AV / Sound. You tick as many as you still need on the one bounty, and each one can carry its own budget, so the photographer and the florist are not being quoted against the same number.

How do I know a vendor is legit?

Every vendor here has a profile they built themselves: portfolio, the categories they work in, their packages and what those cost, their price range, and the area they cover. Some listings were put up from public business information before the vendor ever joined, and those are waiting to be claimed by the business rather than written by it. What we do not do is verify anybody. We do not check licenses, insurance or bonds, we run no background checks, and there is no review system, so read a profile as a vendor’s own account of themselves. Ask for proof of insurance and references, and get a written contract before any deposit leaves your hands. You can also tag a bounty "Must be insured" so vendors know your line before they pitch.

Can I post more than one bounty?

One live bounty at a time, and it is built to be the only one you need: a single bounty asks for every category you are still missing, each with its own budget. Needing a florist as well two weeks later is an edit, not a second post. A bounty comes down after 30 days, and you can put up a fresh one once it has.

What do I need to post a bounty?

Four things are required: your wedding date, where it is, a budget range, and at least one kind of vendor. Everything after that is optional and every one of them makes the pitches better, because a vendor pricing your day is otherwise guessing at it: the venue and what kind it is, your guest count, how many hours of coverage you want, the style you are after, requirements like bilingual or travel OK, and any notes you want vendors to read. About three minutes, honestly counted.

How do I talk to vendors?

Through the site. A pitch lands in your dashboard inbox and your reply goes back the same way, so the whole conversation sits with the bounty it belongs to instead of scattered across your email. One thing not to send through it: card numbers, bank details, or a photograph of your ID. No vendor here needs any of those from a message, and asking you for them is against the terms.

Can I change or take down my bounty?

Changing it, yes, whenever you like. Open your dashboard, hit Edit Bounty, and move the date, the budget, the categories, any of it; the board shows the change straight away. Taking it down early is not a button yet, so email hello@weddingbounty.com and we will pull it for you. Left alone it expires by itself after 30 days, and we email you before it does.

Do vendors see my personal information?

Accepted Answer

Only what you chose to put in the bounty, and not your name or your contact details until you reply. A vendor reads what the wedding needs and pitches it; you stay anonymous the whole time you are reading what came back. Nothing about you reaches a vendor because they pitched you. Once you do reply you are in a conversation, and what you share inside it is yours to decide. The Privacy Policy sets out the rest of it.

How do I sign up as a vendor?

Create an account, pick Vendor when you are asked which side you are on, and the onboarding walks you through the profile: your business, your categories, your price range, the area you cover, and your portfolio. If your business already has a page here that you did not build, do not start a second one. That listing was put up from public information and is waiting for you: write to hello@weddingbounty.com from an email address at the business and we will hand it over.

What does it cost a vendor?

Nothing while we launch, pitching included. Paid vendor tiers are being built and are not on sale, so nothing you set up now sits behind a card. We take no commission on a booking either, and that part is not a launch offer: what you agree with a couple is between the two of you.

Question 13

How do I pitch on a bounty?

Accepted Answer

Open the board. Every bounty on it carries the date, the location, the budget and the categories still open, so you can tell in one line whether it is yours, and you pitch the ones that are. One pitch per bounty, which is what keeps the board readable for the couple and is exactly why the one you send gets read. Name their date, your range, and give one link.

What area does Wedding Bounty cover?

Houston and the metro around it. That is where the couples posting are, so that is where the work is. A couple can also mark a bounty local only, which asks for vendors inside 50 miles of the wedding. It is a note rather than a wall: you are told before you start writing, and you can still pitch if the drive genuinely is not an issue for you.

Can I put up a portfolio?

Yes, and it is the part of a profile couples actually read. You get portfolio images sorted by category, up to 6 vendor categories, packages with what is in them and what they cost, a price range, and a coverage area. Those last three are also what the matching engine reads, so an honest price range is not modesty: it puts you in front of the couples who can afford you instead of the ones who cannot.

How is this different from other wedding sites?

Most of them are directories. You search, you shortlist, you write the same message twelve times and then you wait. The order is reversed here: you describe the wedding once and the vendors come to you, which means the first move is theirs and the shortlist that arrives is already interested in your date and your budget. The second difference is what the ranking is made of. Every match is scored out of 100 on the category you asked for (30 points), whether the pricing fits your budget (20), how close the vendor is (20), your style (15) and any specialty you named (15). Nobody can buy a place in that score.

How do I get help?

Email hello@weddingbounty.com and a person answers, usually the same day and within two business days at the outside. If you are signed in there is a Contact Support form in the account menu, which saves you retyping who you are and sends the reply back to your account. The contact page lists what to put in a first message for the four things people usually write in about, which is the difference between one reply and three.

Is Wedding Bounty available outside Houston?

Not yet. The board, the map and the vendor directory are all built around the Houston metro, and opening a second city before the first one is dense enough would hand the couples there an empty board, which is a worse answer than "not yet". Who runs Wedding Bounty?

Wedding Bounty is a trade name of NGO Photography LLC, a Texas limited liability company operating from Houston. Small enough that the people who build it read the mail, which is the good news and also why a clear first message to hello@weddingbounty.com gets a faster answer than a vague one.
